February WOM – Back Assault – Warm-up Sneak Peak

In this month’s WOM, we go all in with the Back Assault workout. This workout combines the best compound movements to dominate the posterior chain and finishes with a high volume back assault to bulletproof the back.

This is the exact same back giant set that I created for the best-selling Diesel MASS program and that left Joe D. crumpled on the floor at the Onnit Academy when we trained together at the DeFranco’s Gym grand opening! (Haha, don’t tell Joe D.)

Some quick coaching points on this sneak peak. It contains just the very first movements for the warm-up and shows you some innovative soft-tissue (SMR) technique we like to use to prepare for the mobility and activation sections of the warm-up.

For this SMR work*, remember:

  • Hit hip external rotation when on glutes
  • Roll slowly
  • Roll down the full length of the muscle
  • Breathe deeply (don’t hold your breath)
  • Make transitions as smooth as possible

* Special Note: This soft-tissue rolling can also be done with a foam roller.
